Ben got the kids kites at Wal-Mart - they were only $1. Interpretation - they don't fly very well. It hasn't been terribly windy for the last few days, so maybe we'll try again when it's windier. Currently, it's SNOWING AGAIN. Grrr... Me, launching Dylan's kite:
Dylan, running, trying to keep the kite up:
Trust me - the socks with the sandals was NOT my idea. But Dylan insisted on wearing them together:

Even though they didn't last long, I bet it was still fun!
ReplyDeleteHow cute and fun! You are a good mom. Even though you knew that they wouldn't work, you did it anyways. That's awesome!
ReplyDeleteI remember that flying a kite as a kid was really cool and exciting. I have no idea why. It was always a let-down after all of the hype. Maybe because you have to wait the whole year until springtime and then you have a tiny window of time when it will kind of work.
I also remember in 9th grade geometry when we made kites. I made a really cool looking kite. It was awesome! Mom helped pick out some psychodelic fabric that was orange and purple. It was a blast!
Yay for kite-flying. We should give a shout-out to the Mary Poppins song and to Benjamin Franklin.
We got the same $1 kites for our kids. One flew and the other didn't. Of course, the one that flew flew right over the top of the house and got stuck on the roof. Thus rendering it dead. Yes, very dead!
ReplyDeletecute kites. we have plenty of wind down here today. come on over. :)
ReplyDeleteReminds me of my mom when my brother kept bugging her to fly a kite. She was dressed for work in high heels and a strait skirt and she went running down the sidewalk and fell. It broke her sternum which was thus crooked from then on. It knocked the wind out of her and my brother kept asking if she wanted mouth-to-mouth recessitation. Of course she couldn't answer him because she was out of breath.
