I got a cool e-mail from my cousin's wife, Ashley, awhile ago - it had a link to a website that tells you the number one song, according to the Billboard chart, on the day you were born. Here's the site: http://www.joshhosler.biz/NumberOneInHistory/SelectMonth.htm
Mine is "Don't Give Up on Us," by David Soul. I have no idea what that song is! I'll have to listen to it when I get home from work, on a computer that actually has audio.
In other "don't give up"-type news, I just got hired by TGI Friday's today. Aw yeah, baby. Thank goodness for hard-working youngest sisters. Lex works there during summers and Christmases, and they like her so well that they basically said, "When can you start?" And yes, I did check out teaching jobs - there aren't any right now. So I get to be a Hostess with the Mostest for awhile, and then on to the To Go Window, and then on to server. I've never really worked in the restaurant business before, so this will be new for me. It felt so weird pounding the pavement today. I haven't looked for a job in like ten years. Bizarre.
So we'll see how it goes.
Dang Karlenn! Isn't this economy such a bummer? Yeah, we thought it was really lovely to finish a four year JD/MBA program with a job offer at a reputable law firm off Capitol HIll in Washington DC....only to have them totally tank and leave us jobless with $xx,000 of student loans to pay off!
ReplyDeleteBUT...it's all good now. Er....it will be. Right? Just keep moving forward and good luck at TGIF's!
Yay for finding a job!?! Keep us posted on how things go.
ReplyDeleteWow! You're amazing! That's great news...for now anyway, right? My dad lost his job this week too down in AZ. He works in construction, which is a no go right now down there. Good luck! Keep praying! Stay positive! And once my kids get better, I can watch yours for free!
ReplyDeleteYAY! Now, if anyone can afford to go eat there... :) You'll do great.
ReplyDeletei hope you love it as much as i do... i'm nervous you'll hate it! it's hard to deal with people, you learn patience, but you've been doing the mom thing for a while so i think you have the patience thang down flat. the managers are awesome though, if you have any questions i'm here for ya
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the new job!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou're a people person so I'm sure you'll do great! It sucks that you have to work there though. I hope it'll get better for you soon!
