My mom sometimes likes to take each of my kids on "dates" - just special, one-on-one time with each of them. My mom decided that today was Sadie's "turn." She took Sades to the mall to pick out a church dress, and they had Pretzelmaker hot dog thingeys for lunch. So cute. I would have loved it if either of my grandmas had done that with me. My mom is such a good granny. (And a good mom. And a good friend.)
So Mom told me this story after their return - I guess they were getting ready to go, and Sadie pointed to the bags under my mom's eyes and said, "What are THOSE?"
"Uh, the bags under my eyes."
"Why do they look so...baggy?"
"Because I'm a grandma. That's just what eyes do when you get older."
"Well, you look ridiculous."
Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiice.
And your mom being amazing as she is, still took her on a date and bought her a dress! Now that is a definite journal entry. I would have been like -- okay whatever, your one on one time with me is now OVER! LOL It's awesome how we just learn to roll with the punches. My nephew told me a few weeks ago he thought I was 100 years old (nice huh?) Then when I said I was 42 - he said - wow you are as old as my dad! Good one! Made me and everyone else around me laugh! Gotta love it, out of the mouth of babes! :)

ReplyDeleteBA hahaha!
ReplyDeleteLike your mom has the option to take them off or something.
She is a great mom, grandma, and friend.
And Sades is a hoot.
I remember making some unfiltered comments about my grandmother's droopy arms.
ReplyDeleteI guess it is a good thing that grandmas love grandkids, filters or no ;-D
