So there's this greenbelt thingey you can walk on to kind of enjoy the scenery at Niagara Falls. Brianna hadn't ever walked it before. We decided to wear flip flops, because we knew that riding that boat, the Maid of the Mist, up to the falls would drench us, and we didn't want to have squishy shoes for the rest of our trip. But dang. Sandals were NOT the way to go. I'd say it was a good 2 1/2 miles each way. So word to the wise - if you're going to walk the greenbelt, wear one pair of tennis shoes, and take another with you in a backpack to use when you're done riding the boat and walking all the way back to your car.
The Maid of the Mist, that little boat you see in the picture below, really gets right up in there. More pictures of that experience to come.
Look at these hostas!!
Gorgeous. I need more hostas in my life. It's a goal of mine for next summer. I'm going to hit the backyard hard core.
You can do this thing where you can "walk behind the falls." I don't know if that's true. But this shot is cool:
They were shooting an episode of Dino Dan!
The squirrels in this area are all a charcoal grey. Which was cool. This little guy was so cute:
Maid of the Mist:
They give you free blue ponchos.
A busload of Amish.
Or Menanites? I need to figure out the difference...
"Having a sit," as the British would say:
I swear my mom wasn't mad at me. :) I'm not sure what that face was! Haha!
Look at these begonias! I need some begonias next year in my backyard, as well. I've made a little note of it in my brain:
They had this little gazebo thing where you could take pictures and look out over the falls. Ben and I liked the mortar:
Poor Mom. Her hips were hurting her so badly on this walk. She was such a good sport.
The little townish area on the Canadian side is adorable. Lots of cute shops and great restaurants. Ben and I went to the Hershey store and got some fudge, which turned out not to be that great. Once you go Sarah's Candy Cottage, you never go back. We've been spoiled by Sarah.
I am so jealous of all of your adventures! I have always wanted to go there. It looks amazing!!
ReplyDeleteI miss Niagara... and Canada in general. I had never seen a grey squirrel before my mission. We called them lamanite squirrels. I miss them too...
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool you got to go there!! I've always wanted to visit Niagara Falls.
