I'm sure that I'm messing with the ecosystem or whatever, but I can't help but give these little guys some snacks every now and then:
It's just so stinkin' cold outside, and I feel bad for them. I want to help them store food for the winter. He's eating leftover apple chips in the above picture. I used them in a salad; I ended up hating the salad, and nobody liked eating the apple chips plain, so Mr. Squirrel and his friends got a nice meal. They also like eating those little helicopter leafey-thingeys that fall off our maple tree:
I had Dylan take out some leftover golden raisins last week:
You would think that the squirrels wouldn't be so scared of us - after all, we haven't had a dog in months, and it's not like we go out there and chase them up the tree. If they're on our patio, and we go out to give them food, they run away, and they don't return for a couple of days. The pictures of them that I took had to be taken through the glass of our french doors. They're not like the chipmunks in Yellowstone - that's for sure.
Hey, it's like the cat that adopted us! Oh wait, we actually OWN that cat now instead of giving her little snippets of food.
ReplyDeleteHow cute. I would do the exact same thing if it were me. I am always a sucker for animals. However the only strays I get are moose, deer, skunks, and cougars. I am not sure I should be encouraging any of them to stay! However Dave would love to feed the cougar one of our cats :(
ReplyDeleteVery cool!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! That is sweet of you to take care of the little guys.
