My kids call Kraft Macaroni and Cheese, "Crap Macaroni and Cheese." Not that they think it tastes like crap (though I truly think it does. Not that I've tasted crap...). Quite the contrary. They looooove Kraft Mac and Cheese. They ask for it for lunch and dinner every single day (Don't worry. It takes ten long minutes to make, so I don't make it for every meal). They just happen to think that it's called Crap Macaroni and Cheese.
There is this salad that most people call Frog Eye Salad, or Acini de Pepe Salad - you know the one I'm talking about. Especially if you have ever been to a ward party, a baby blessing open house, or a missionary farewell open house. It's just standard Mormon fare. My mom didn't bother pronouncing Pepe in the Italian way when we were growing up. She pronounced it "Pee-Pee Salad," and we didn't think twice about it. Since I've grown up, I've heard it pronounced "Pay-pay salad," but I still pronounce it like Mom did: "Pee-pee."
I don't make Pepe Salad often, because it's starchy (all the noodles), and I really try to only serve one starchy thing at each of my meals. So, if I'm having a casserole involving rice or noodles or whatever, I don't do pepe salad on the side. But a few weeks ago, we had barbecue chicken, so I thought we could stand a little starch in our lives, and I made pepe salad. Sadie couldn't remember ever having had pepe salad before, so when I put it on the table, she said, "What dat?" I replied, "Pee-pee salad." And her eyes widened in fear and confusion. She thought I meant... well... penis salad. Because in our house, we call the penis the "pee-pee." I chuckled and reassured her that the little noodles are called pepe noodles, and that I wasn't serving her pee-pees for dinner.

That is hilarious! Crap Mac and Cheese! Haha! I make Mac and cheese all the time for dinner. Mark hates it, but I've become really lazy about dinners ever since we moved. It probably has to do with the fact that I still don't feel like the kitchen is put together!:P
Good ol' Mac n Cheese. My kids get confused when I call it "Kraft Mac n cheese" or even "Macaroni and Cheese".
I swear, whenever I babysit anywhere, or my nieces and nephew are at my house, I serve them "crap" mac and cheese! haha you are hilarious, I love reading your blog. That is funny that Sadie got so concerned...oh talking about Sadie, my dad loves her. Anyway, I am taking a class this next sem. that will teach me what foods to feed kids compared to adults..and what is a good balance..etc. I am so excited cause I have no clue.
