Dinner in a Weird Squash

One of my favorite fall meals is Dinner in a Pumpkin. I was so stinkin' busy during October that I never got around to it, but about a week after Halloween, I had time and ambition, so I set out to get a big pumpkin.

And there were none to be found! Not a one!! I looked in several stores, and I wanted that yummy taste of cabbage, ground beef, and green beans so badly... so I decided to improvise. I found these little, weird, white squashes that looked like pumpkins, so I bought 'em and made them in this way:

It was sooo much better in the weird squash than in a pumpkin! I'm planning to do it this way from now on.
Now, I ordinarily wouldn't have blogged about this, but I just had to take a picture, because they were so beautiful after being cooked. Look how golden-brown and delicious they look! And I have this weird OCD thing about putting every single picture I take on my blog. Sorry. I'm sure it has cost me some readers. :)
Okay, this is the last blog I'll do about my adventures in cooking, I promise.

I love random food adventures! When I was working at Maceys before my mission the people I worked with decided for me that I should write a book and have the characters cook and include recipes in my book. Interesting idea...that I ignored...

I like this idea for pumpkin dinners better. It's more individualized. Seems "gourmet."

I never have tried that recipe. If I ever get ambitious enough, then I'll have to try it in the smaller squah thing.

I like the random food posts too. It is good to get ideas from people. Did I ever tell you that I learned how to make your Swedish Pancakes without having the batter be lumpy? There is a simple trick - put in all of the dry ingredients and only half of the wet ones. Mix it. (Is is more the constancy of thick pancake batter. It works out all of the lumps and then you add the rest of the liquid ingredients. It works like a charm! Swedish pancakes are still one of my favorite foods. I two brother-in-laws that served missions in France that cook them regularly.

MMmmm, they look good! It sounds like an interesting meal. I've never really tried squash before. I think dinner pictures are great. I might be posting a few of my own soon.
