Let it Snow!

We got our first real snowfall right before Christmas. It had snowed a couple of weeks before, but it had rapidly melted. The stuff right before Christmas was actually substantial, and it stuck. Here's Ben, shoveling:

Poor Ben really needs some snowboots. Dylan had a good time supervising:

Dylan likes to shovel while waiting for his bus. Such a busy little bee:

This is our across-the-street neighbor, Nephi:

He is the shoveling-meister. He is out every single day. Even if we get a little dusting of snow, he is out sweeping it. He is like 85 years old and has prostate cancer, yet the shoveling is constant.
One day last winter, it had snowed a couple of inches during the night, and I kept looking out the windows to see if Nephi had been out to shovel. He didn't shovel for the entire day, and I was convinced that he had died. Ben came home, and I told him that Nephi hadn't been out to shovel, and he was about to put on his coat and go check on him, but then Nephi came out and began shoveling away.
This is what kills me - we got this killer snowfall during Christmas, while we were away, and I groaned within myself, thinking, Oh crap. We are going to have to do a buttload of shoveling when we get home. But when we got home, the driveway, sidewalks, and walkway were completely clear of snow. We came to find out that Nephi shoveled our walks while we were gone, in addition to his own!!! He's a supernova! And such a sweetheart. Love that man.

What a nice neighbor Nephi sounds like. It seems like men from that generation know how to work hard and don't think twice about it or complain. I enjoyed reading your post about the bishop's store house. Thanks for sharing. It's so true that you never know what people are going through. What a wonderful system the church has to help their own. (and others too)

That's so nice of your neighbor! Mark needs some snow boots too! He always come back in with wet and stained socks! I feel bad having him do it. One morning before Christmas one of our neighbors had a snow blower and came over to do the long stretch of sidewalk. It was so nice! Neighbors are great!:)

Dude, I love our snowblower. It rocks. Now it's actually fun to go out and clear the snow! That's awesome about your neighbor; are you going to repay him someday by clearing his snow? That is, if it ever snows again...oh wait, I need to wait until March or April, when we're ready for spring! :)
