Mr. Mom

Wow. Ben is not doing so hot at this stay-at-home dad thing. I worked eight hours yesterday, and will do so again today (just scanning), and...um... yeah. The dishes weren't done, the laundry wasn't folded...

And Ben forgot to put Dylan on the bus for school.

True story. I called yesterday at about 12:30: "So, honey, how's it going?"

"Good; the kids and I are just watching a movie..."

"Kids? Wait. Did you get Dylan on his bus at 12:05?"

Silence.

"Be-ennnnn!! Get in the car right now and take him over!"

"Well, it's too late now!"

"Then at least call him in sick!"

"Okay... What's his school's name again?"

"HAWTHORNE!!"

Seriously, how do men get jobs? And do them? Or even function?? But I didn't say anything about the dishes or laundry, because honestly, there are many days that I myself don't get those things done when I'm at home. And, to Ben's credit, he did spend the entire day yesterday applying for jobs and fixing up his website for people to look at. So far, on the architecture job front, no bites.

As for me, I have an interview tomorrow morning at a psychiatrist's office for a secretarial job. Please, oh please, oh please, let me get that job... It's part-time, and then my work at Dad's office would be part-time, and then I'd feel good about that. Two nice, cushy, quiet, part-time office jobs. That feels nice to me. If I don't get this office job, I'll still do my scanning thing at Dad's office part time and then do TGI's. I'm supposed to train at TGI's like two hours after my office secretary interview tomorrow. Yikes. Bikes. And I have to go out tonight and buy black pants, shoes, shirt, and red "FLAIR." :) So funny. Um, so things are really still in the air. Once I figure out my schedule, then Ben can figure out what hours he can ask for at good ole' Wal-Mart and Winco. Gotta love it.

I think a lot of men (and women like myself who work and don't have kids yet) don't quite realize how much WORK it is to be a stay-at-home-mom. Or parent. It's tough.

Kudos to you for being so proactive so soon after Ben getting laid off. The two times I've been laid off, I wallowed in it for at least a week.

Have fun with that flair!

JCPenney is having a Buy one clearance item get one clearnace item free and they had some black pants. Just as FYI. Things never got done the same when Jaren was home with the kids and I was at work. It must be a boy thing.
